What is Juvederm?
Juvederm is a family of cross-linked hyaluronic acid gels made by Allergan Aesthetics, the company behind Botox. Different products in the range have different firmness, so softer gels suit the lips and fine lines while firmer ones suit the cheeks and deep folds.
Its smooth, cohesive texture helps it blend with surrounding tissue and move naturally when you talk and smile. Your doctor at Art of Shine Clinic may also discuss alternatives such as Restylane or GCELLE depending on the area.
How Juvederm works
The doctor selects a Juvederm product for each area and injects it at the right depth. The gel adds volume and binds water, filling hollows and softening folds while staying flexible.
- Consultation: your doctor assesses your lips, folds and facial volume, discusses the look you want and chooses the product and amount.
- Injection: after numbing cream, the filler is placed in small amounts with a fine needle or cannula and shaped as it goes.
- After: you check the result in the mirror, receive aftercare advice and can go straight back to your day.
Why patients choose Juvederm
- Smooth, cohesive gel — an imported filler with a soft texture.
- Moves naturally — blends with facial expressions.
- Versatile — used for lips, folds and cheeks.
- Reversible if needed — HA filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.
Who is Juvederm for — and when we suggest something else
Good candidates
- You want soft volume in areas that move a lot, such as lips or around the mouth.
- Your nasolabial folds or cheeks have lost volume over time.
- You prefer a smooth, cohesive gel that moves naturally when you talk.
- You want a result that can be dissolved later if needed.
- You are visiting Busan and want a treatment with no real downtime.
We may suggest something else if…
- Your lines are mainly expression lines. Botox relaxes the muscle instead.
- You want gradual volume built from your own collagen. Juvelook Volume works that way.
- Your skin is thin and crepey without hollowing. A booster such as Rejuran Healer targets quality.
- Old filler has caused lumps or spread. Filler Dissolving comes first.
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have an active infection or cold sore. We postpone treatment.
What happens at your Juvederm session in Seomyeon
- Message us on WhatsApp first. Tell us which areas you want treated and send clear photos. Mention any filler history and your departure date.
- Consultation with Dr. Park. She checks volume loss, skin and movement, then chooses which Juvederm product suits each area. Allergies and medicines are reviewed.
- Preparation & numbing. Numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes. Many Juvederm products also contain lidocaine for extra comfort.
- The treatment. Injection takes about 10–20 minutes. Most people feel pressure and mild stinging, and you check the result in the mirror.
- Out the door & follow-up. You can return to daily life straight away; mild swelling is possible. Message us if lumps, asymmetry or discomfort last.
How Dr. Park plans your Juvederm treatment
Juvederm is a family of gels, not one product. Dr. Park chooses softer gels for lips and fine lines, and firmer ones for cheeks and deep folds. Depth matters as much as product: deeper placement supports, shallower placement smooths.
There is no Juvederm package on our current price list, so the number of syringes is agreed at consultation. Dr. Park often treats in stages. She would rather add a little more later than overfill.
Results usually last 6–12 months. Lips tend to fade sooner because they move constantly. Planned top-ups every 6–12 months keep things natural rather than building up heavy volume.
Juvederm results: what to expect and when
- Immediately: volume and shape are visible straight away, with some swelling.
- Days 3–7: swelling and any bruising settle, and the result starts to look more natural.
- Week 2: the filler has settled into the tissue; this is a good time to review the result.
- Months 6–12: the filler is gradually absorbed by the body; how fast varies by person, product and area.
Side effects, risks and who should avoid Juvederm
Hyaluronic acid filler is generally well tolerated when injected by a doctor. Possible side effects include:
- Swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising at injection points (usually settles within a few days)
- Small lumps or slight asymmetry, which can often be adjusted or dissolved
- Rarely, infection or a delayed inflammatory reaction
- Very rarely, filler blocking a blood vessel, which needs urgent treatment — contact the clinic at once if the skin turns pale, dusky or very painful
Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have an active infection, cold sore or inflamed skin in the area; are allergic to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine; or have a bleeding disorder or active autoimmune condition. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially blood thinners, and any previous filler in the area.
Juvederm vs Restylane, GCELLE and Belotero Revive: which should you choose?
Juvederm, Restylane and GCELLE are volumising HA fillers; Belotero Revive is a skin booster.
| Treatment | How it works | Best for | Downtime | Results last |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Juvederm | Smooth, cohesive HA gel range | Lips, folds and cheeks with movement | Mild swelling possible | About 6–12 months |
| Restylane | HA gel range with varied textures | Defined shaping, lips | Mild swelling possible | About 6–12 months |
| GCELLE | HA gel in Shape, Deep and Fine types | Matching firmness to each area | Mild swelling possible | About 6–12 months |
| Belotero Revive | Shallow HA injections hydrate skin | Skin quality and fine texture | Mild swelling or needle marks 1–2 days | Varies; 3+ sessions recommended |
Choose Juvederm for natural-moving volume. Choose Restylane or GCELLE when Dr. Park wants a specific texture. Choose Belotero Revive if skin quality, not volume, is the goal.

Downtime after Juvederm, and flying home
Most people go straight back to sightseeing after Juvederm. In the first 24–72 hours you may see mild swelling, small bruises or tenderness, especially in the lips. Avoid saunas, jjimjilbang, hot baths, strenuous exercise and alcohol on the day. Wait for injection points to close before applying makeup over them.
For 1–2 weeks, avoid strong massage and heat on the treated area. Tell Dr. Park your flight date when you book. Flying is generally possible after filler; treating early in your trip leaves time for a check. Plan photos a few days later if you have lip filler. See our aftercare tips for travellers.

Is Juvederm better than Korean fillers?
Not automatically. Juvederm is a well-established range made by Allergan Aesthetics, but Korean HA fillers are also widely used.
The right filler is the one that suits the area, depth and look you want. Some gels hold shape better; others spread more softly. Price also differs. Dr. Park can explain why she would choose Juvederm or another product such as Neuramis or GCELLE for each area. Ask her to compare them for your own face. Your budget can also guide the choice, and she can explain the options openly.
Which Juvederm is used for lips?
Juvederm has softer gels intended for lips and finer lines. Firmer gels in the range are designed for cheeks and deeper folds.
Dr. Park chooses the specific product at consultation, based on your lip shape and the result you want. A soft gel helps lips look natural when you talk and smile. For lip-specific plans and packages, see Lip & Mouth Corner Filler. Expect lip filler to fade sooner than cheek filler. Avoid hot drinks and lipstick on the first day to protect the injection points.
Can Juvederm cause lumps?
Small lumps can happen with any filler. Many are early swelling or uneven settling and soften over the first two weeks.
Persistent lumps may come from placement depth, product choice or overfilling. Because Juvederm is hyaluronic acid, lumps can be dissolved if needed. Do not massage firmly unless Dr. Park tells you to. Contact us if a lump is painful, red, warm or growing, as these need prompt assessment. Bringing photos of how the area looked before treatment helps her assess any change.
