Botox in Busan
#BotulinumToxin · #WrinkleCare · #NaturalExpression · #ProvenSafety
Botox uses botulinum toxin to relax overactive muscles, softening expression lines and slimming a square jaw. Each treatment is dosed to your own muscles and the look you want, so results stay natural.
Quick answer: Botox is a botulinum toxin type A injection that temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet, and can slim an enlarged jaw (masseter) muscle. At Art of Shine Clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, it takes about 5–10 minutes, needs no numbing, and you can return to sightseeing straight away. Results appear in 3–7 days and usually last 3–6 months. Trial prices start from KRW 990 for one wrinkle area (excl. 10% VAT).

What is Botox?
“Botox” is the everyday name for botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein injected in tiny doses into specific muscles. It is one of the most widely studied aesthetic treatments in the world and is used for both expression lines and facial contouring.
At Art of Shine Clinic we offer several botulinum toxin brands, including Korean-made toxins (Coretox, Liztox, Nabota) and German Xeomin. Your doctor recommends the product and dose during your consultation.
How Botox works
Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract. When the muscle relaxes, the skin over it stops creasing, so dynamic lines soften. In the jaw, a relaxed masseter gradually shrinks in bulk over several weeks, giving a slimmer lower face.
- Consultation: your doctor assesses your muscle movement and maps the injection points.
- Injection: very fine needles deliver small, measured doses. Most people describe a brief pinch.
- Done: the whole appointment usually takes under 30 minutes including consultation.
Why patients choose Botox
- Backed by extensive clinical data — one of the most researched aesthetic treatments.
- Versatile — treats forehead lines, frown lines, crow's feet and jaw contour.
- Dose tailored to you — adjusted to your muscle strength for a natural expression.
- No downtime — ideal on a short trip to Busan.
Who is Botox for — and when we suggest something else
Good candidates
- You have frown lines, forehead lines or crow's feet that appear mainly when you move your face.
- Your jaw looks square because the masseter (chewing) muscle is large, not because of fat.
- You want a subtle refresh that still lets you frown, smile and raise your brows.
- You are visiting Busan for a few days and need a treatment with no downtime.
- You have had toxin before and want a dose adjusted to how your muscles responded last time.
- You are in good general health and not pregnant or breastfeeding.
We may suggest something else if…
- Your lines are deep and visible at rest. Toxin softens movement, so Wrinkle Filler may be needed as well.
- Your cheeks or jaw look full mainly from fat. A Contour Injection targets fat rather than muscle.
- Your main concern is pores, oiliness or fine crepey texture. Skin Botox places toxin more superficially for that.
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis. We advise waiting or not treating.
What happens at your Botox session in Seomyeon
- Message us on WhatsApp first. Tell us which areas bother you, your travel dates and any previous toxin treatments. A relaxed and a frowning photo helps us prepare.
- Consultation with Dr. Park. She watches you frown, smile and clench, checks muscle strength on each side, and reviews your medicines and health history.
- Preparation. No numbing is usually needed. The skin is cleansed and the injection points are marked with you sitting upright.
- The treatment. A very fine needle delivers small, measured doses in about 5–10 minutes. Most people feel a quick pinch at each point.
- Out the door and follow-up. There is no downtime, so you can sightsee straight away. Message us at about two weeks if one side looks stronger than the other.
How Dr. Park plans your Botox treatment
Reading your muscles, not just your lines
Dr. Park first sees which muscles create each line. A heavy brow or a strong frown changes where and how much toxin goes. The same forehead can need a different pattern on each side.
Areas and doses
Wrinkle treatment is planned per area, such as the forehead, between the brows or around the eyes. Our trial offers are priced per area, and jaw slimming starts from a 50U trial. For a wider lower face, a 3-area plan treats the temporalis, parotid glands and masseter together.
Keeping it natural
Lighter doses on the forehead keep your brows lifting. Jaw doses aim to reduce bulk without weakening your bite too much. Repeat treatment is usually planned every 3–6 months, once movement starts to return.
Botox results: what to expect and when
- Day 3–7: lines begin to soften as the muscle relaxes.
- Week 2: full wrinkle-relaxing effect is visible.
- Weeks 4–8: jaw-slimming results develop gradually as the masseter reduces.
- Months 3–6: movement slowly returns; a repeat treatment maintains results.
Side effects, risks and who should avoid Botox
Botox is generally well tolerated when performed by a doctor. Possible side effects include:
- Small bumps, redness, swelling or bruising at injection points (usually settles within hours to a few days)
- Mild headache or a feeling of heaviness
- Rarely, temporary eyebrow or eyelid drooping, or asymmetry, which fades as the effect wears off
- Mild chewing fatigue for a few weeks after jaw Botox
Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have a neuromuscular disorder (such as myasthenia gravis); have an infection at the injection site; or are allergic to any ingredient. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially blood thinners.
Botox vs Skin Botox, Contour Injection and Wrinkle Filler: which should you choose?
These four are often confused, but each works on a different layer or problem.
| Treatment | How it works | Best for | Downtime | Results last |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Botox | Relaxes the muscle that creases the skin | Expression lines, square jaw | None | About 3–6 months |
| Skin Botox | Tiny shallow doses in the skin itself | Pores, oiliness, fine texture | None | About 2–3 months |
| Contour Injection | Fat-dissolving solution in the fat layer | Full cheeks, double chin | None | Varies by person |
| Wrinkle Filler | Hyaluronic acid fills a fold | Deep lines visible at rest | Mild swelling possible | About 6–12 months |
Choose Botox if the line or bulk comes from muscle movement. Choose filler if a line stays deep when your face is still. Choose a contour injection if the width is soft fat.
Aftercare after Botox
- For 3–4 hours after treatment, avoid lying down or rubbing the treated area.
- On the day of treatment, avoid saunas, hot baths, strenuous exercise and alcohol.
- Do not massage or apply strong pressure to the treated area.
- Temporary swelling, bruising or soreness may occur and usually subsides over time.
- Results and duration vary with muscle strength, lifestyle and the area treated.

Downtime after Botox, and flying home
Most people walk out looking as they did before, apart from small bumps that fade within an hour or so. For 3–4 hours, stay upright and do not rub the area. You can visit Haeundae, Gamcheon or Jagalchi the same afternoon. Skip the sauna, jjimjilbang, hot baths, hard workouts and alcohol until the next day.
Wait until later in the day for makeup, and apply it gently without pressing. Botox takes 3–7 days to show, so book early in your trip if you want a check before you leave. Tell Dr. Park your flight date at consultation. Flying after Botox is generally fine; avoid sleeping face-down against the window or a pillow in the first hours. Will Botox make my face look frozen?
Not when the dose is matched to your muscles. A frozen look usually comes from too much toxin, or treating the forehead without balancing the brow area. Dr. Park plans lighter doses where you need movement, such as the outer forehead. The goal is softer lines while you can still raise your brows and smile.
Your first treatment is a reference point. If you want more or less effect next time, the plan is adjusted. Tell her if you speak on camera or perform, since expression matters more for you.
How many units of Botox do I need for a slimmer jaw?
It depends on the size and strength of your masseter muscle, and the dose is decided at consultation. Our jaw trial uses 50U, which is a common starting point. Men, people who grind their teeth or chew gum often may have larger muscles. They may need a different plan.
Jaw slimming appears slowly, over about 4–8 weeks, as the muscle shrinks. Judging it after a few days is too early. Most people repeat it to keep the result, and the dose can change as the muscle gets smaller.
How long before a wedding or event should I get Botox?
Have it at least two weeks before for wrinkles, and about 4–8 weeks before for jaw slimming. Lines begin to soften in 3–7 days, and the full effect shows at around two weeks. That gap also leaves time for a small correction if one brow sits differently.
Do not leave it to the day before, as small bumps or a rare bruise could show in photos. If you are combining with filler or a lifting device, ask us on WhatsApp to plan the order and timing.
Is it safe to have Botox every 3 months?
For most healthy adults, regular treatment spaced as your doctor advises is considered routine. We usually suggest every 3–6 months, once movement has started to return. Very frequent top-ups at high doses are not recommended. They may raise the chance of the body forming antibodies over time. Resistance is uncommon, but it is easier to prevent than to reverse.
If you have toxin often, ask about a toxin without complexing proteins such as Coretox or Xeomin. Always tell Dr. Park when and where you were last treated, and which product was used. If a previous treatment seemed to wear off very quickly, mention that too.
Botox FAQ
How much does Botox cost in Busan?
At Art of Shine Clinic in Seomyeon, a single-session trial of Korean wrinkle Botox for one area is KRW 990. Korean jaw Botox 50U is KRW 9,900 (excl. 10% VAT). The final price depends on the brand, number of areas and dose.
How long does Botox last?
Wrinkle results typically last about 3–4 months, and jaw-slimming results around 4–6 months. Duration varies with your muscle strength, metabolism and the area treated. Most people plan a repeat once movement starts to return.
Does Botox hurt?
Most people feel only a quick pinch from a very fine needle, so numbing is usually not needed. The injections take about 5–10 minutes. Any small bumps at the injection points usually settle within an hour or so.
Can I go sightseeing or fly after Botox?
Yes. There is no downtime, so you can continue your day. Avoid lying down for 3–4 hours and skip saunas, hot baths, alcohol and hard exercise on the day. If you are flying soon, mention it during your consultation.
What is the difference between Botox and filler?
Botox relaxes muscles to soften lines caused by movement and to slim the jaw. Filler adds volume with hyaluronic acid to restore or shape areas such as lips, under-eyes and deep folds. Many patients combine both.
Who will treat me?
Botox is planned at a consultation with a doctor. Dr. Park Yoon-soo is our Head Director and a 2026 CORETOX Expert. To ask who will treat you on your date, message us on WhatsApp.
