Side effects, risks and who should avoid Lip & Mouth Corner Filler

Hyaluronic acid filler is generally well tolerated when injected by a doctor. Possible side effects include:

• Small lumps or slight asymmetry, which can often be adjusted or dissolved
• Rarely, infection or a delayed inflammatory reaction
• Possible cold sore flare-up if you are prone to them
• Very rarely, filler blocking a blood vessel, which needs urgent treatment — contact the clinic at once if the skin turns pale, dusky or very painful

Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have an active infection, cold sore or inflamed skin in the area; are allergic to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine; or have a bleeding disorder or active autoimmune condition. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially blood thinners, and any previous filler in the area. If you get cold sores, tell your doctor beforehand.

Downtime after Lip & Mouth Corner Filler, and flying home

Lips swell more than most areas. The first 24–72 hours often bring puffiness, tenderness and sometimes small bruises, usually worst the next morning. You can sightsee, but plan close-up photos a few days later. Avoid saunas, jjimjilbang, hot baths, alcohol and hard exercise on the day. Skip lipstick until the injection points have closed.

For 1–2 weeks, avoid pressing or massaging the lips and strong heat. Drinking through a straw and eating very hot food may feel uncomfortable at first. Tell Dr. Park your flight date. How much lip filler should I get for a natural look?

For many first-time patients, around 1cc or less gives a noticeable but natural change. Our lip packages are based on 1cc.

Thin lips, large lips and lips with old filler all respond differently. Dr. Park may use less than a full syringe if your lips are small. She will not add volume past what suits your face. If you want more, it is safer to build in stages once the first treatment has settled. Bring photos of lip shapes you like, but expect your result to suit your own face. Natural lips have some asymmetry, so perfect matching is not the goal.

Can filler lift drooping mouth corners?

Yes, filler can support downturned corners by adding a little structure underneath. Dr. Park often pairs it with a small dose of Botox.

The muscle that pulls the corners down is relaxed by Botox, while filler supports the corner itself. Together they help the mouth look softer at rest. If the drooping comes from cheek sagging, filler alone has limits. In that case Dr. Park may discuss lifting options such as threads. A gentle plan avoids a fixed or unnatural smile.

Why is my upper lip curling inward, and can a lip flip help?

An upper lip can roll inward because of lip shape or a strong muscle around the mouth. It shows less pink, especially when smiling.

A lip flip uses a small amount of Botox to relax that muscle so the lip turns out slightly. Adding filler gives volume as well. Our Lip Flip Package combines both. Botox can temporarily affect drinking through a straw or certain sounds. Dr. Park adjusts the dose to keep this mild. The effect usually appears over several days and fades over a few months.
