Upper Lip Line Filler in Busan
#VerticalLipLines · #PerioralLines · #FreshLipArea · #MicroDoseInjection
Upper lip line filler places tiny amounts of soft hyaluronic acid into the fine vertical lines on and above the upper lip. Because the mouth moves constantly, it is injected delicately in shallow layers for a smoother, fresher look.
Quick answer: Upper lip line filler uses tiny amounts of soft hyaluronic acid to soften the fine vertical lines above the upper lip, sometimes called lipstick lines. At Art of Shine Clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, it takes about 10–20 minutes after numbing cream, with mild swelling possible for a few days. Results usually last about 6 months. A related lip package with lip filler and lip flip Botox is KRW 290,000 (excl. 10% VAT).

What is Upper Lip Line Filler?
Vertical lines above the upper lip form from repeated mouth movements, such as pursing, and from the gradual loss of collagen and volume with age. Upper lip line filler uses a soft, flexible hyaluronic acid gel injected in very small amounts close to the surface, filling each line from beneath.
The aim is to smooth the lines without noticeably changing lip size. If you also want fuller lips or lifted corners, see lip & mouth corner filler. For crepey texture, a skin booster such as Belotero Revive may be suggested alongside.
How Upper Lip Line Filler works
A soft, flexible gel is placed in shallow layers directly under each line, in micro-doses, so the area still moves naturally when you talk and eat.
- Consultation: your doctor examines the lines at rest and when you move your mouth, and plans the amount.
- Treatment: after numbing cream, tiny amounts of soft filler are placed with a fine needle in about 10–20 minutes.
- After: small bumps or swelling settle over a few days; avoid straws and big mouth movements for 2–3 days.
Why patients choose Upper Lip Line Filler
- Softens vertical lip lines — smooths lines on and above the upper lip.
- Delicate, shallow technique — micro-doses suited to a mobile area.
- A fresher mouth area — lipstick is less likely to bleed into lines.
- Lip size stays the same — the goal is smoothness, not extra volume.
Who is Upper Lip Line Filler for — and when we suggest something else
Good candidates
- You have fine vertical lines above the upper lip, sometimes called smoker’s lines.
- Your lipstick bleeds into small lines around the mouth.
- You want the area smoother without making your lips bigger.
- You are fine with small, shallow injections and a short course of top-ups.
- You can limit straws and big mouth movements for 2–3 days.
We may suggest something else if…
- You want fuller lips or lifted mouth corners. Lip & Mouth Corner Filler is designed for that.
- Your lines are very fine and the skin is thin overall. Skin Botox or a skin booster may help skin quality.
- Your upper lip curls inward when you smile. A lip flip, as in our Restylane package, may help more.
- You get cold sores. Tell us first; treatment waits if one is active.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an infection around the mouth. We postpone treatment.
What happens at your Upper Lip Line Filler session in Seomyeon
- Message us on WhatsApp first. Send a close photo of the area at rest and one while pursing your lips. Mention cold sores and any past lip filler.
- Consultation with Dr. Park. She checks the depth of each line, skin thickness and how your mouth moves. She confirms whether filler, Botox or both suit you.
- Preparation & numbing. Numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes. Lines are marked while your face is relaxed.
- The treatment. Injecting takes about 10–20 minutes. Tiny amounts go into shallow layers, and you feel brief stinging.
- Out the door & follow-up. You can return to your day. Limit straws and big mouth movements for 2–3 days, and message us if bumps persist.
How Dr. Park plans your Upper Lip Line Filler treatment
This treatment is about small amounts in the right layer. The mouth moves constantly, so heavy filler here can look stiff or lumpy.
Shallow, line by line
Dr. Park places soft hyaluronic acid in shallow layers along each line. The goal is to support the crease from beneath, not to add lip volume.
Pairing with a lip flip
Our listed lip offer is the Lip Flip Package: designed lip filler 1cc (Belotero or Restylane) plus lip flip Botox. Relaxing the muscle can make lines fold less with movement. She advises whether that combination fits, or whether lines alone should be treated and quoted by amount.
Results usually last about 6 months, so repeat treatment is typically every 6–9 months.
Upper lip line filler results: what to expect and when
- Immediately: the change is visible as soon as treatment ends, often with some swelling.
- Days 2–7: swelling and any bruising settle.
- Weeks 2–4: the filler settles and softens; this is the right time to judge the result.
- Around month 6: the filler is gradually absorbed and a top-up can maintain the result. Timing varies by person.
Side effects, risks and who should avoid upper lip line filler
Hyaluronic acid filler is generally well tolerated when performed by a doctor. Possible side effects include:
- Swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising at the injection sites (usually settles within a few days)
- Small lumps or slight unevenness, which often soften as the filler settles
- Tiny visible bumps, which usually soften within days
- A cold sore flare in people prone to them
- Rarely, infection, an allergic reaction or delayed lumps
- Very rarely, filler can block a blood vessel. Contact the clinic or seek urgent care immediately for severe pain, skin colour changes or changes in vision
Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have an infection, cold sore or inflamed skin in the area; are allergic to hyaluronic acid filler ingredients or local anaesthetics such as lidocaine; have a history of severe allergic reactions; or have a bleeding disorder. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially blood thinners, and any previous filler or surgery in the area.
Upper lip line filler vs lip filler and Skin Botox: which should you choose?
Lines above the lip can be treated in several ways, depending on their cause.
| Treatment | How it works | Best for | Downtime | Results last |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Upper Lip Line Filler | Soft HA placed shallowly into fine lines | Vertical lines above the lip | Immediate return; mild swelling possible | About 6 months |
| Lip & Mouth Corner Filler | HA adds lip volume or lifts mouth corners | Thin lips or drooping corners | Immediate return; mild swelling possible | About 6–9 months |
| Skin Botox | Diluted toxin injected shallowly into the dermis | Fine lines and texture across an area | Return to daily life immediately | About 2–3 months |
Choose upper lip line filler if distinct vertical lines are your concern. Choose lip filler if you want volume or shape. Choose Skin Botox if the issue is fine texture rather than individual lines.

Downtime after Upper Lip Line Filler, and flying home
For the first 24–72 hours, mild swelling or small bumps along the lines are common. Bruising can appear around the lips. Avoid pressing on the area, and limit straws and big mouth movements for 2–3 days. Wait until the next day for lipstick, once injection points have closed.
You can sightsee the same day. Skip saunas, the jjimjilbang and hot baths on the day, and avoid strong heat on the area for a while. Avoid alcohol and hard exercise on the day. Tell Dr. Park your flight date at consultation. A day or two before flying lets us check any bumps. See our aftercare tips for travellers.

What causes vertical lines above the upper lip?
They form mainly from repeated pursing of the mouth muscle combined with thinning skin. Smoking, drinking through straws and frequent whistling add to the folding. Sun exposure and natural ageing reduce collagen, so the skin creases more easily. Some people get these lines without ever smoking, often due to genetics and thin skin. Filler supports existing lines from beneath. Relaxing the muscle with a small Botox dose can reduce how often lines fold. Dr. Park looks at both factors before deciding which approach suits you.
Will upper lip line filler make my lips look bigger?
It should not, because the aim is to treat lines, not lip volume. Very small amounts of soft filler go into shallow layers along each line. Lips can look slightly fuller for a day or two from swelling, then settle. If you also want more lip volume, tell Dr. Park so she can plan it separately. The listed Lip Flip Package uses designed lip filler 1cc, which is a lip treatment. For lines only, treatment is quoted by amount. Ask her on the day which plan fits your goal.
Why does filler above the lip fade faster than elsewhere?
The mouth is one of the most mobile parts of the face. Constant talking, eating and smiling put movement on the filler all day. Movement and the soft gel used here mean it breaks down sooner than in deeper areas. Results usually last about 6 months, and many people repeat every 6–9 months. Combining filler with lip flip Botox may help lines form less with movement. Protecting the area from sun and avoiding smoking also helps. Dr. Park will suggest a realistic schedule for your stay in Busan.
Upper Lip Line Filler FAQ
How much does upper lip line filler cost in Busan?
Our listed lip offer is the Lip Flip Package: designed lip filler 1cc (Belotero or Restylane) plus lip flip Botox. It is KRW 290,000, reduced from KRW 492,000 (excl. 10% VAT). Treatment for upper lip lines alone is quoted by amount, so ask us on WhatsApp.
Does upper lip line filler hurt?
Numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes first, and many fillers also contain a local anaesthetic. Most people feel pressure and mild stinging rather than sharp pain. The injections take about 10–20 minutes, and tenderness usually settles within a day or two.
How long does upper lip line filler last?
Results usually last about 6 months. The mouth moves constantly, so filler here is broken down faster than in still areas. Many people repeat treatment every 6–9 months, and lip flip Botox can help lines form less with movement.
Can I go sightseeing or fly after upper lip line filler?
Yes, you can go out straight away. Mild swelling or bruising around the lips may last a few days. For 2–3 days, avoid straws and big mouth movements, and skip saunas, alcohol and hard exercise on the day. Mention any upcoming flight.
What is the difference between upper lip line filler and lip flip Botox?
Filler fills existing vertical lines from beneath. Lip flip Botox relaxes the muscle around the mouth so the upper lip rolls out slightly and creases less with movement. They work differently and are sometimes combined, and your doctor will advise which suits you.
Who performs upper lip line filler?
Dr. Park Yoon-soo, Head Director at Art of Shine Clinic, performs the treatment. She is a Belotero Key Doctor (Merz Korea) and a Restylane Expert Member (Galderma), the two brands in our lip package. See our doctors page.
I get cold sores. Can I still have this treatment?
Please tell us before treatment if you have a history of cold sores. If one is active, treatment waits until it has healed. Dr. Park will advise you at consultation, and you can ask on WhatsApp beforehand.
Can I book upper lip line filler without a separate consultation?
Yes. Dr. Park consults with you on the same day, before treatment, and you can still decide not to go ahead. Message us on WhatsApp with photos and your preferred time.
