What is Carina Injection?

Carina Injection belongs to the group of fat-dissolving (lipolytic) injections. A small amount of solution is injected into the fat layer of the area you want to refine, where it is designed to help reduce localised fat over a course of sessions.

It suits soft, localised fat rather than muscle or loose skin. If a wide jaw comes from a strong masseter muscle, jaw Botox is usually more effective. Art of Shine Clinic also offers Contour Injection for facial fat and puffiness; your doctor will recommend the option that fits your face.

How Carina Injection works

The solution is placed in the fat layer of the target area, where it acts on fat cells; the body then gradually clears the treated fat. Each session treats a small amount, so results build over a course.

  1. Consultation: your doctor checks whether your concern is fat, muscle or skin and marks the areas to treat.
  2. Injection: small amounts are injected into the fat layer with a fine needle, taking about 5–10 minutes.
  3. After: you can go straight back to your day; sessions are repeated every 1–2 weeks.

Why patients choose Carina Injection

  • Focused on facial fat — targets the cheeks, jowl area and double chin.
  • Tailored to your concern — the areas and amount are planned for your face.
  • Quick sessions — about 5–10 minutes, usually without numbing.
  • No downtime — fits easily around work or travel.

Who is Carina Injection for — and when we suggest something else

Good candidates

  • You have soft, pinchable fullness under the chin or in the lower cheeks.
  • Your weight is fairly stable, but one or two facial areas stay full.
  • You want a gradual slimming change rather than surgery or liposuction.
  • You can return every 1–2 weeks for a course of 3–5 sessions, or you live in or visit Busan often.
  • You also notice puffiness and want a slimmer-looking face over time.

We may suggest something else if…

  • Your jaw is wide because of a strong chewing muscle. Botox for the jaw works on muscle, not fat.
  • The issue is mainly sagging skin, not fat. A lifting device such as Ulthera or Thermage FLX suits laxity better.
  • You are only in Busan for a few days and cannot return. A single ONDA session may fit a short trip better.
  • You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have an active skin infection in the area. We advise waiting.

What happens at your Carina Injection session in Seomyeon

  1. Message us on WhatsApp first. Send a front and side photo of your face, the area you want slimmer, and how long you will be in Busan.
  2. Consultation with Dr. Park. She pinches and feels the area to judge whether the fullness is fat, muscle or loose skin, and reviews your health history.
  3. Preparation. No separate numbing is usually needed. The skin is cleansed, and the treatment zones are marked while you sit upright.
  4. The treatment. Small amounts are injected into the fat layer with a fine needle in about 5–10 minutes. You may feel a sting or brief pressure.
  5. Out the door and follow-up. You can continue your day with no downtime. Book the next session 1–2 weeks later, and tell us on WhatsApp if swelling lasts.

How Dr. Park plans your Carina Injection treatment

Mapping the fat, not the whole face

Dr. Park marks only the pockets of fat that change your outline. Common zones are under the chin, the lower cheeks and along the jaw. Areas that are already slim, or where fullness gives a youthful look, are left alone.

A course, not a single shot

Each session treats a modest amount of fat. Sessions are spaced every 1–2 weeks, and 3–5 sessions are usually recommended. The amount and zones can change between sessions as your face responds.

Keeping a balanced result

Over-slimming the cheeks can make a face look tired. Dr. Park reviews your photos at each visit and stops when the outline looks balanced. If a strong jaw muscle also adds width, she may suggest adding jaw Botox.

Carina Injection results: what to expect and when

  • After each session: mild swelling can make the area look fuller for a day or two.
  • After 2–3 sessions: a gradual change in the face line may become noticeable.
  • After the full course: the final result can be assessed, usually a few weeks after the last session; keeping a stable weight helps it last.
  • Please note: results and timing vary by person.

Side effects, risks and who should avoid Carina Injection

Carina Injection is generally well tolerated when performed by a doctor. Possible side effects include:

  • Swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising at injection sites
  • Temporary firmness, itching or small lumps that soften over several days
  • Rarely, uneven results or skin irritation

Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have an infection or inflamed skin in the area; are allergic to any ingredient; have a bleeding disorder; or mainly have loose skin rather than fat, where reducing fat may not improve the shape. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially blood thinners.

Carina Injection vs Contour Injection, Jaw Botox and ONDA: which should you choose?

These options all make a face look slimmer, but they treat different causes.

Treatment How it works Best for Downtime Results last
Carina Injection Fat-dissolving injection into the fat layer Small pockets of facial fat None Varies by person
Contour Injection Fat-dissolving injection, also aimed at puffiness Cheeks, jowls, under the chin None Varies by person
Jaw Botox Relaxes and slims the chewing muscle Square jaw from muscle None About 3–6 months
ONDA Microwave energy heats the fat layer Fuller lower face with mild laxity None About 6–12 months

Choose Carina Injection if you have soft fat and can attend a course. Choose jaw Botox if the width hardens when you clench. Choose ONDA if you prefer one device session on a short trip.

Aftercare after Carina Injection

  • For about 3–4 hours after treatment, do not lie down or rub the treated area.
  • On the day of treatment, avoid saunas, hot baths, strenuous exercise and alcohol.
  • Do not massage or press firmly on the treated area.
  • Temporary swelling, bruising or soreness may occur and usually settles on its own.
  • Results and how long they last vary with your skin, muscles and lifestyle.

Downtime after Carina Injection, and flying home

Most people go straight back to sightseeing. The area may feel tender, warm or slightly swollen for a day or two, and a small bruise is possible. For 3–4 hours, stay upright and do not rub or press the area. Skip the sauna, jjimjilbang, hot baths, hard exercise and alcohol on treatment day.

Light makeup can go on later the same day if the skin looks calm. Flying is generally fine, but swelling can feel a little more noticeable on a long flight. Tell Dr. Park your flight date, especially if you cannot finish the course in Busan. See our aftercare tips for travellers.

Why do I need 3–5 sessions of Carina Injection?

Because each session reduces only a small amount of fat. Fat-dissolving injections work gradually, and the body clears treated fat over the following weeks. Spreading the treatment over 3–5 sessions, every 1–2 weeks, lets Dr. Park adjust the plan as your face changes.

One session alone rarely gives a visible change. If you are visiting Busan briefly, plan your stay or return trips around the course. Ask on WhatsApp before booking if your schedule is tight. A different option, such as a single ONDA session, may suit you better.

Does fat come back after Carina Injection?

Treated fat cells are designed to be broken down and cleared, but the remaining fat cells can still grow. That is why weight gain can bring fullness back, and why results vary from person to person.

Keeping a stable weight is the single biggest factor in how long your result lasts. Sleep, salt intake and alcohol also affect facial puffiness. If your weight changes a lot, the face may need reassessing. Dr. Park can advise whether more sessions make sense, or whether another treatment fits better.

Is a double chin always fat?

No. A double chin can come from fat, loose skin, posture, a small chin bone or a combination. Carina Injection only helps the fat part. That is why Dr. Park checks the area in different head positions before suggesting it.

If loose skin is the main issue, a lifting device may help more. If the chin itself is small, the solution may be different again. Sometimes a fat-reducing course is combined with lifting for a cleaner jawline. An honest assessment at consultation saves time and money on a plan that does not fit your face.

Carina Injection FAQ

How much does Carina Injection cost in Busan?

The price depends on the area, the amount used and the number of sessions your doctor recommends. Art of Shine Clinic in Seomyeon can give you a quote on WhatsApp before your visit. Prices are in KRW, exclude 10% VAT and are paid at the clinic on the day.

Does Carina Injection hurt?

Most people feel a quick sting or pressure from the fine needle, so separate numbing is usually not needed. Each session takes about 5–10 minutes. Mild tenderness or swelling afterwards is common and usually settles within a few days.

How many Carina Injection sessions do I need?

A course of 3–5 sessions, spaced 1–2 weeks apart, is usually recommended because each session treats a small amount of fat. How long the result lasts varies by person and depends a lot on keeping a stable weight.

Can I go sightseeing after Carina Injection?

Yes, there is no downtime. Avoid lying down or rubbing the area for 3–4 hours, and skip saunas, hot baths, alcohol and hard exercise that day. Because the course needs repeat visits 1–2 weeks apart, plan ahead if you are only in Busan briefly.

Carina Injection or jaw Botox — which is right for me?

Carina Injection targets soft facial fat, such as full cheeks or a double chin. Jaw Botox relaxes a large masseter muscle that makes the jaw look square. Your doctor checks whether face width comes mainly from fat or muscle; sometimes both are combined.

Who decides if Carina Injection suits me?

A doctor assesses you at a consultation before any injection. Dr. Park Yoon-soo, our Head Director, reviews whether your concern is fat, muscle or skin. Ask us on WhatsApp who will see you on your chosen date.

Can I start the course in Busan and continue at home?

You can discuss this with Dr. Park. Products and techniques differ between clinics, so we cannot say how another clinic will continue. Send your travel dates on WhatsApp, and we will help you plan as many sessions as fit your stay.

Do I need to book a consultation first?

A consultation always comes first, and it is usually done on the same day as your first session. Message us on WhatsApp to book. We are open Mon–Fri 10:00–20:00 and Sat 10:00–16:00 KST, closed Sundays.
