On the face, ONDA is used for a fuller lower face, a soft jawline and a double chin; it is also used on body areas such as the upper arms. It is often combined with Shurink Universe, which lifts deeper tissue, or with a Contour Injection for stubborn fat.

How ONDA works

Microwave energy passes through the cooled skin surface and heats the fat layer and connective tissue beneath. This helps reduce fat volume and triggers collagen renewal, so the area looks firmer and more defined over the following weeks.

What happens at your ONDA session in Seomyeon

1. Message us on WhatsApp first. Tell us whether you want face or body treatment, send a front and side photo, and share your travel dates.
2. Consultation with Dr. Park. She pinches the area to judge fat thickness and skin laxity, and chooses the energy in kilojoules for each zone.
3. Preparation and numbing. Numbing cream is applied for about 30 minutes. The area is then cleansed and marked.
4. The treatment. The cooled handpiece glides over the area for about 30–60 minutes. You feel deep warmth, sometimes with brief hot spots.
5. Out the door and follow-up. No downtime is needed; mild warmth or tenderness settles soon. Monthly sessions are recommended, and you can check in on WhatsApp.

Energy in kilojoules

ONDA is planned by total energy. Our listed options run from a 10,000 J trial to 30kJ, 40,000 J, 60,000 J and 100,000 J. A small area such as under the chin needs less energy than the full lower face. Body areas, such as the upper arms, need more.

Choosing what to pair it with

ONDA works mainly on fat while firming the skin. For deeper lift, Dr. Park often adds Shurink Universe 300 shots. For a square jaw, a package also adds masseter toxin. For overall skin tightening, Alltite or OligioX may be combined.

Pacing and natural results

Monthly sessions are recommended, and changes develop over several weeks. Energy is spread evenly to avoid hollow spots. Fullness that suits your face, such as in the upper cheeks, is left alone.

ONDA results: what to expect and when

• Right after treatment: mild warmth or redness; the area may feel slightly firmer.
• Weeks 2–8: fat reduction and firming develop gradually.
• Months 6–12: results gradually fade with ageing and weight change; maintenance sessions help.

Side effects, risks and who should avoid ONDA

ONDA is generally well tolerated when performed by a doctor. Possible side effects include:

• Redness, warmth or mild swelling (usually settles within hours to a few days)
• Temporary tenderness or numbness in the treated area
• Rarely, burns, blisters or small firm areas in the fat layer

Not suitable if you: have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device; have metal implants in the treatment area; are pregnant; have an active skin infection, open wound or cold sore in the area; or tend to form keloid scars. Tell your doctor about recent fillers, threads or other procedures in the area.

ONDA vs Shurink Universe and Contour Injection: which should you choose?

ONDA is often compared with ultrasound lifting and with fat-dissolving injections.

Choose ONDA if fullness and slight laxity occur together. Choose Shurink Universe if lift matters more than slimming. Choose a contour injection for a small pocket of fat.

Aftercare after ONDA

• Redness or warmth right after treatment is normal and usually fades within a few days.
• On the day of treatment, avoid saunas, hot baths, strenuous exercise and alcohol.
• Apply sunscreen carefully for 1–2 weeks after treatment.
• Do not scratch or rub the treated area.
• Keep your skin well moisturised to help it settle.

Downtime after ONDA, and flying home

Expect some warmth and mild redness for a few hours, and the area may feel tender to touch for a day or two. Light swelling can occur, especially under the chin. You can walk around Seomyeon or visit the beach the same day. Skip the sauna, jjimjilbang, hot baths, alcohol and hard exercise on treatment day.

Does ONDA actually reduce face fat?

ONDA is designed to heat the fat layer, and that heat can reduce fat over the following weeks. The change is gradual, not instant. It is usually a softening of fullness rather than a dramatic difference.

How much change you see depends on your starting fat, the energy used and the number of sessions. Keeping a stable weight helps maintain the result. Dr. Park will tell you honestly if your fullness is more muscle, loose skin or bone structure. Those need a different approach, and ONDA alone would disappoint you.

How many kilojoules of ONDA do I need?

It depends on the area. A small zone such as under the chin needs far less energy than the full lower face. The upper arms or other body areas need more still. Our options range from a 10,000 J trial to 100,000 J.

The 10,000 J trial is a way to try the sensation on a small area. For a visible change across the lower face, plans often use 30kJ to 60,000 J. Dr. Park sets the energy after examining you. More is not always better: even distribution matters as much as the total.

Why combine ONDA with Shurink Universe?

Because they work at different layers. ONDA mainly targets fat while firming the skin. Shurink Universe uses focused ultrasound to tighten deeper tissue for lift. Together they address fullness and sagging in one visit.

This is why several of our packages pair them, such as ONDA 60,000 J with Shurink Universe 300 shots. If your face is slim, ONDA may not be needed. If fat is the only issue, Shurink may not add much. Dr. Park recommends the combination only when both problems are present.
