What is Body Botox?

Body Botox uses the same botulinum toxin type A as facial Botox, but in larger doses suited to bigger muscles. The most common area is the trapezius, which can make the neck look short and the shoulders bulky; the calves are another popular area.

It does not remove fat or tighten skin. It softens muscle that is larger than you would like. If your concern is mainly fat rather than muscle, your doctor may suggest a Contour Injection instead. The product and dose are decided at your consultation.

How Body Botox works

Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract. A muscle that works less gradually becomes smaller, so a bulky trapezius or calf slims over several weeks.

1. Consultation: your doctor checks the size and shape of the muscle and plans the dose for each side.
2. Injection: after numbing cream, small amounts of toxin are injected at several points across the muscle.
3. After: you can return to your day straight away; the slimming effect builds gradually over the following weeks.

What happens at your Body Botox session in Seomyeon

1. Message us on WhatsApp first. Send the area you want treated, your travel dates, and a photo of your shoulders or calves from behind.
2. Consultation with Dr. Park. She feels the muscle while you shrug or rise onto your toes. She checks whether bulk is muscle or fat and asks about sport and work.
3. Preparation and numbing. Numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes. The injection points are then marked across the muscle on both sides.
4. The treatment. Small amounts of toxin are injected at several points in about 15–20 minutes. You feel brief pinches as the needle goes in.
5. Out the door and follow-up. You can walk and sightsee straight away. Check in with us on WhatsApp at about 4–8 weeks, when the slimming is usually visible.

How Dr. Park plans your Body Botox treatment

The trapezius is planned across the upper shoulder, between the neck and the shoulder tip. Dr. Park spreads the dose over several points so the muscle slims evenly. Our body package lists Trapezius Botox 200U, which shows the scale of dose body areas use compared with the face.

Calves are planned on the bulkiest part of the muscle, which you can see when you stand on tiptoe. Doses are split between left and right, and adjusted if one side is larger. The aim is a smoother line, not weaker legs.

Repeat treatment is usually every 4–6 months. When both muscle and fat play a part, it can be combined with fat-reducing care. Our body package pairs it with upper-arm ONDA 100,000 J and a fat-dissolving injection.

Side effects, risks and who should avoid Body Botox

Body Botox is generally well tolerated when performed by a doctor. Possible side effects include:

• Redness, swelling, bruising or tenderness at injection points (usually settles within days)
• Temporary muscle weakness or tiredness, for example when lifting heavy objects or climbing stairs
• A mild ache or feeling of heaviness in the treated area
• Rarely, uneven results that may need review

Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have a neuromuscular disorder (such as myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome); have an infection at the injection site; or are allergic to botulinum toxin or any ingredient. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially blood thinners and certain antibiotics (aminoglycosides). If your sport or job relies on the strength of the treated muscle, discuss this first.

Body Botox vs Contour Injection and ONDA: which should you choose?

Body shape concerns can come from muscle, fat or both, and each option targets a different one.

Choose Body Botox if the area hardens when you flex it. Choose a contour injection or ONDA if it stays soft and pinchable. Dr. Park can combine them when both are present.

Aftercare after Body Botox

• For about 3–4 hours after treatment, do not lie down or rub the treated area.
• On the day of treatment, avoid saunas, hot baths, strenuous exercise and alcohol.
• Do not massage or press firmly on the treated area.
• Temporary swelling, bruising or soreness may occur and usually settles on its own.
• Results and how long they last vary with muscle mass and lifestyle.

Downtime after Body Botox, and flying home

There is no recovery time. Small marks at the injection points fade within hours, and you can walk the beaches and markets the same day. For 3–4 hours, avoid lying down on the treated area or rubbing it. Leave out the sauna, jjimjilbang, hot baths, heavy shoulder or leg workouts, and alcohol on the day.

For the first day, avoid massage or heavy backpack straps pressing on the trapezius. Flying is generally fine; on a long flight, stand and stretch your legs as usual. Tell Dr. Park your flight date, because the result appears after you are home. See our aftercare tips for travellers.

Does trapezius Botox make your shoulders weak?

Most people do not notice weakness in daily life. The trapezius is a large muscle, and the dose aims to reduce bulk rather than stop it working. Some people feel mild fatigue when carrying heavy bags or doing overhead lifts for a few weeks.

If you lift weights, swim competitively or do physical work, tell Dr. Park. She may adjust the dose or suggest timing it away from competitions. Any change wears off as the toxin effect fades. Gentle stretching and normal daily activity are fine from the next day.

Will calf Botox affect walking or hiking?

Normal walking is usually unaffected. Some people feel their calves tire sooner when climbing stairs, running or hiking steep trails for a few weeks. This is because the muscle is working with less power while it slims. Most people adapt quickly in daily life.

If you plan to hike Busan's mountain trails or run a race soon, mention it at consultation. It can be better to treat after the event. Wear comfortable shoes and avoid heavy calf training for the first day. The slimming effect builds over about 4–8 weeks, so your calves will look the same at first.

Can I combine trapezius Botox with facial Botox in one visit?

Yes, this is common, and several of our wedding packages pair trapezius Botox with facial contouring Botox. Dr. Park plans the total dose across all areas at one consultation. That keeps the overall amount within a sensible range.

Combining saves an extra visit, which helps on a short trip. Tell her about any toxin you had elsewhere in the past three months, so the plan accounts for it. Recent toxin elsewhere can change the safe dose and timing. If you are unsure of the product or date, bring any receipt or photo of the record.

Can trapezius Botox relieve shoulder tension?

Body Botox here is offered for shape, not as a pain treatment. Some people say their shoulders feel less tight after the muscle relaxes, but this varies and is not the goal of treatment.

If you have ongoing neck or shoulder pain, headaches or numbness, see a doctor for that first. Mention the symptoms at consultation so Dr. Park can decide whether cosmetic treatment is appropriate. Pain with weakness, tingling or a recent injury needs proper assessment first. Treating the shape will not fix an underlying problem.
