Xeomin in Busan
#GermanToxin · #PureToxin · #LowResistance · #NaturalExpression
Xeomin is a German botulinum toxin purified to remove complexing proteins. It is designed to lower the chance of resistance with repeated treatment, giving softer lines and a smooth contour while keeping expressions natural.
Quick answer: Xeomin is a botulinum toxin type A (incobotulinumtoxinA) from Germany that has its complexing proteins removed. It temporarily relaxes the muscles behind frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet, and can slim the jaw. At Art of Shine Clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, it takes about 5–10 minutes, usually needs no numbing, and has no downtime. Results typically last about 3–6 months. Pricing depends on the area and dose, so ask us for a quote.

What is Xeomin?
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is made by Merz in Germany. Most botulinum toxins contain the active neurotoxin together with accessory complexing proteins; Xeomin is purified to contain only the active part. In theory this lowers the chance that the body forms neutralising antibodies with repeated use.
It works like other toxins, relaxing targeted muscles to soften forehead, frown and crow's-feet lines and reduce jaw bulk. It is often chosen by people who have frequent treatment or feel their toxin is wearing off sooner. Art of Shine Clinic also offers Coretox, Nabota and Liztox.
How Xeomin works
Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks the nerve signal that tells a muscle to contract. As the muscle relaxes, the skin over it creases less, so dynamic lines soften. In the jaw, the relaxed masseter gradually reduces in bulk over several weeks.
- Consultation: your doctor checks your muscle movement and treatment history, and maps the injection points.
- Injection: very fine needles deliver small, measured doses. Most people feel a brief pinch.
- After: you can go straight back to your day; results develop over the following days to weeks.
Why patients choose Xeomin
- No complexing proteins — contains only the active toxin.
- Suited to repeat treatment — designed to reduce the risk of resistance.
- Natural expression — softens lines while keeping movement.
- No downtime — about 5–10 minutes, then back to your day.
Who is Xeomin for — and when we suggest something else
Good candidates
- You have toxin regularly and want a product without complexing proteins.
- You feel a previous toxin has started to wear off sooner than before.
- You want frown lines, forehead lines or crow’s feet softened naturally.
- You want jaw muscle reduction after an assessment by Dr. Park.
- You want a 5–10 minute treatment you can fit into a busy day.
We may suggest something else if…
- You want a lower-cost Korean product for routine care. Liztox or Coretox may suit.
- Your concern is dull, dry skin rather than lines. A booster such as Rejuran Healer targets skin quality.
- You have had no response at all to any toxin. Dr. Park will first review why before trying again.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a neuromuscular condition. Toxin should be postponed or avoided.
What happens at your Xeomin session in Seomyeon
- Message us on WhatsApp first. Send the areas you want treated and a list of past toxin brands and dates. Tell us how long each one lasted.
- Consultation with Dr. Park. Dr. Park examines your expressions and muscle strength. She asks about any sense of reduced effect over time.
- Preparation & numbing. No separate anesthesia is required for Xeomin. Your skin is cleansed and injection points are planned as you move your face.
- The treatment. The injections take about 5–10 minutes. Expect brief pinches and, sometimes, a tiny bump that fades soon.
- Out the door & follow-up. You can return to daily life immediately. Watch how results build over two weeks and message us with any questions.
How Dr. Park plans your Xeomin treatment
Starting from your toxin history
Xeomin is often chosen by people who have had many toxin treatments. Dr. Park asks how often you have been treated and how long results lasted. This helps her judge your dose and timing.
Placement for natural movement
She maps the muscles behind each line and adjusts dose by area. The forehead, brows and eye area are balanced so expressions stay soft and natural.
Not too often
Repeat treatment is usually every 3–6 months. Spacing sessions sensibly, rather than topping up early, is part of good long-term toxin care.
Xeomin results: what to expect and when
- Day 3–7: lines begin to soften as the muscle relaxes.
- Week 2: the full wrinkle-relaxing effect is usually visible.
- Weeks 4–8: jaw-slimming results develop gradually.
- Months 3–6: movement slowly returns; a repeat treatment maintains results (varies by person).
Side effects, risks and who should avoid Xeomin
Botulinum toxin treatment is generally well tolerated when performed by a doctor. Possible side effects include:
- Small bumps, redness, swelling or bruising at injection points (usually settles within hours to a few days)
- Mild headache or a feeling of heaviness
- Rarely, temporary eyebrow or eyelid drooping, or asymmetry, which fades as the effect wears off
- Mild chewing fatigue for a few weeks after jaw treatment
Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have a neuromuscular disorder (such as myasthenia gravis); have an infection at the injection site; or are allergic to any ingredient. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially blood thinners.
Xeomin vs Coretox, Botox and Liztox: which should you choose?
Two of these products remove complexing proteins; all four are botulinum toxin type A.
| Treatment | How it works | Best for | Downtime | Results last |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xeomin | Botulinum toxin type A with complexing proteins removed | People who have toxin often | None; back to daily life immediately | Approx. 3–6 months |
| Coretox | Korean botulinum toxin type A with complexing proteins removed | Repeat wrinkle and contour care | None; back to daily life immediately | Approx. 3–6 months |
| Botox | Botulinum toxin type A; relaxes the targeted muscle | Expression lines and jaw contouring | None; back to daily life immediately | Approx. 3–6 months |
| Liztox | Korean botulinum toxin type A | Regular, cost-conscious toxin care | None; back to daily life immediately | Approx. 3–6 months |
Choose Xeomin if you want a German, protein-free toxin for frequent treatment. Choose Coretox for a Korean protein-reduced option. Choose Botox or Liztox for routine care where resistance is not a concern.

You can carry on with your day after Xeomin. Small injection bumps usually fade within an hour. A light bruise is possible, especially around the eyes. For 3–4 hours, stay upright and avoid rubbing your face. Skip saunas, jjimjilbang, hot baths, alcohol and intense exercise until the next day.
Results appear over several days and settle in about two weeks. Tell Dr. Park when you fly home so she can plan around it. Air travel is generally fine afterwards; just avoid pressure on treated areas. See our aftercare tips for travellers.

What does “no complexing proteins” mean in Xeomin?
It means Xeomin contains the active toxin without the extra proteins that surround it in some other products. In some products, these accessory proteins come along with the active toxin. They do not help smooth wrinkles. In theory, fewer foreign proteins may lower the chance of forming antibodies. Antibodies can make toxin work less well over time. The risk is considered low for typical cosmetic doses. Still, people who have frequent or high-dose treatments may prefer a protein-free option. Dr. Park can explain whether this matters for you.
Why does my Botox seem to wear off faster than before?
There are several possible reasons, and resistance is only one of them. Stronger muscles, a higher metabolism, exercise habits and a lower dose can all shorten results. Different areas also fade at different speeds. Rarely, the body forms antibodies after repeated treatment. Bring your full history to the consultation. Include brands, areas, dates and how long each result lasted. Dr. Park will look for the most likely cause. Switching to Xeomin is one option she may suggest. Allow a sensible gap between sessions, as topping up too early is not advised.
Can Xeomin be used for the jaw?
Yes, Xeomin can relax the masseter, the main chewing muscle. Over time this can make a wide, square jaw look softer. The change appears slowly over several weeks as the muscle becomes smaller. Not every wide jaw is caused by muscle, though. Dr. Park will feel the muscle while you clench your teeth. If bone or fat is the main cause, toxin will do less. She may then suggest Contour Injection or another approach. Jaw results are usually reviewed after several weeks, not days, so plan follow-up on WhatsApp if you are abroad.
