What is LDM (Low-Frequency Ultrasound)?

LDM is a care program that applies low-frequency ultrasound to the skin through a handpiece. The gentle sound-wave vibration creates a micro-massage effect in the tissue, which is used to encourage circulation and lymphatic drainage and to help hydrating products work into the skin.

Because it is comfortable and has no downtime, LDM is often added at the end of other treatments at Art of Shine Clinic, such as Potenza, Thermage FLX or CellREDM, to help with swelling and comfort. It can also be booked on its own.

How LDM (Low-Frequency Ultrasound) works

Low-frequency ultrasound creates gentle vibration in the skin and underlying tissue. This micro-massage effect is used to encourage blood and lymph flow, helping reduce puffiness and supporting the absorption of soothing or hydrating products applied with it.

  1. Consultation: your skin and any recent treatments are checked.
  2. Care: a gel or serum is applied and the ultrasound handpiece is moved slowly over the face.
  3. After: the skin is finished with soothing care and you can return to your day.

Why patients choose LDM (Low-Frequency Ultrasound)

  • Supports circulation — encourages blood and lymphatic flow.
  • Eases puffiness — helpful for facial or post-treatment swelling.
  • Recovery support — a gentle add-on after lasers and injections.
  • Comfortable, no downtime — relaxing and non-invasive.

Who is LDM for — and when we suggest something else

Good candidates

  • Your face looks puffy, or swells after procedures.
  • You want faster comfort and recovery after lasers, boosters or lifting.
  • You feel your circulation is poor and skin looks tired.
  • You want better absorption of skincare or booster ingredients.
  • You want a relaxing, non-invasive care every 1–2 weeks.

We may suggest something else if…

  • Your main concern is heat and redness. Cryocell cools the skin instead.
  • You want pores cleansed. Aqua Peel targets congestion.
  • You want lasting tightening and lift. Devices such as Thermage FLX work deeper.
  • You are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted device, or have an active skin infection. Tell Dr. Park before any device care.

What happens at your LDM session in Seomyeon

  1. Message us on WhatsApp first. Tell us whether you want LDM on its own or after another treatment, plus your dates.
  2. Consultation with Dr. Park. Dr. Park reviews your skin and history. She checks swelling, sensitivity and any recent procedures to set the care.
  3. Preparation & numbing. No separate anesthesia is needed. A gel or product is applied to the skin.
  4. The treatment. A low-frequency ultrasound handpiece is moved across the face for about 20–30 minutes. Most people feel only light warmth or tingling.
  5. Out the door & follow-up. You can return to daily life immediately. For regular care, come back every 1–2 weeks.

How Dr. Park plans your LDM treatment

Session length

LDM can be a short add-on or a full care. Our choose-one offer lists a 6-minute LDM care. A standalone session takes about 20–30 minutes.

Pairing with other treatments

LDM is built into many plans. Examples include Thermage FLX 600 or 900 Shots, and Pico Toning x5 with LDM x5. It also joins CellREDM 7cc with Rejuran 2cc, and Stem Cell Skin Treatment 30cc. It supports comfort and recovery after these treatments.

Spacing

On its own, LDM is repeated every 1–2 weeks. Dr. Park adjusts focus areas for swelling or dryness.

LDM (Low-Frequency Ultrasound) results: what to expect and when

  • Right after: skin feels calm and refreshed; puffiness may look reduced.
  • Days 1–3: post-treatment swelling may settle more comfortably.
  • Ongoing: regular sessions help maintain skin condition (varies by person).

Side effects, risks and who should avoid LDM (Low-Frequency Ultrasound)

LDM is gentle and side effects are uncommon. Possible effects include:

  • Mild, short-lived redness or warmth
  • A light tingling sensation during care
  • Rarely, irritation from the gel or serum used

Not suitable if you: are pregnant; have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device; have an active skin infection or open wound in the area; or have a known sensitivity to the products used. Tell your clinician about any medical conditions.

What does LDM do after Thermage or Ulthera?

LDM supports comfort and recovery after lifting. Lifting devices can leave the face slightly swollen or warm. LDM uses low-frequency ultrasound to support circulation and lymphatic flow. This may help swelling settle and the skin feel calmer. That is why it appears in our Thermage FLX packages. It does not add lift on its own. Dr. Park decides when to do it on the day. LDM is gentle, so it usually adds little to the visit beyond extra time. If you prefer to skip it, just tell the team. Swelling after lifting usually settles on its own too.

Can LDM help skin boosters absorb better?

That is one reason it is paired with boosters. LDM is described as helping absorption of nutrients and products into the skin. It is included in plans with CellREDM, Rejuran and stem cell skin treatment. The booster still does the main work. LDM supports the skin around it. Results vary with your skin and the booster used. Ask Dr. Park which combination suits your goals. LDM itself has no downtime, so it does not add recovery time to your booster plan. Needle marks from the booster follow their own recovery time.

Is LDM good for puffy face in the morning?

It may help reduce puffiness for a time. LDM supports circulation and lymphatic flow, which can ease fluid build-up. The effect is usually temporary. Morning puffiness also relates to sleep, salt, alcohol and hormones. Regular care every 1–2 weeks can help maintain the effect. If swelling is constant or one-sided, see a doctor first. Ongoing puffiness can sometimes have a medical cause. Simple habits help too, such as less salt in the evening and a slightly raised pillow. LDM then works alongside them.
