LED therapy shines specific wavelengths of light onto the skin to support repair, calm redness and help care for breakouts. It is gentle and low in irritation, so it suits sensitive skin and recovery care after other treatments.
Quick answer: LED therapy is a non-invasive light treatment that uses set wavelengths of LED light to help calm irritated skin, support skin repair and care for blemishes. At Art of Shine Clinic in Seomyeon, Busan, a session takes about 15–20 minutes, needs no numbing and has no downtime. Effects build with regular sessions every 1–2 weeks. It is listed within a skin package from KRW 690,000 (excl. 10% VAT).

What is LED Therapy?
LED (light-emitting diode) therapy uses low-energy light at specific wavelengths, rather than heat or a laser, to interact with skin cells. Red and near-infrared light are commonly used to calm the skin and support its natural repair, while blue light is often used as part of care for blemish-prone skin.
At Art of Shine Clinic it is used on its own as gentle regular care, and as a soothing finish after treatments such as Pico Toning or peels. For dedicated calming with cold, see Cryocell.
How LED Therapy works
The LED panel is placed close to your face and delivers light at the selected wavelength. The light does not burn or cut the skin; it is absorbed by skin cells and supports their normal calming and repair processes. You simply lie back with eye protection while the session runs.
- Consultation: your doctor checks your skin and chooses the wavelength programme for your goal.
- Light session: you relax with eye protection under the LED panel for about 15–20 minutes.
- After: you can wear light skincare and carry on with your day; regular sessions build the effect.
Why patients choose LED Therapy
- Wavelength-specific care — programmes chosen for calming, repair or blemish-prone skin.
- Low irritation — no needles, heat damage or peeling, so it suits sensitive skin.
- Recovery support — a soothing add-on after lasers, peels and other skin treatments.
- No downtime — easy to fit into a busy day or a short trip to Busan.
Who is LED Therapy for — and when we suggest something else
Good candidates
- You have sensitive skin that reacts to stronger facials or actives.
- Your skin feels hot, red or reactive after a laser, peel or injection.
- You get recurring blemishes and want a calming, no-contact add-on.
- You want a short 15–20 minute session that fits around sightseeing.
- You are already doing a toning course and want recovery support between sessions.
- You prefer care with no needles, no heat and no numbing.
We may suggest something else if…
- Your main concern is flat pigment or melasma. Light alone will not clear it; Pico Toning or Helios 4 targets melanin directly.
- Your skin is mainly dry and tight. Hydration Care or Omega LED Care adds moisture as well as light.
- You want to clear clogged pores. Aqua Peel deep-cleans first; LED can follow it.
- You take medicine that makes skin light-sensitive, or you have a light-triggered condition. Tell Dr. Park first; she may advise waiting or skipping LED.
What happens at your LED Therapy session in Seomyeon
- Message us on WhatsApp first. Send a photo of your skin in daylight and tell us what else you are booking. LED is often paired with toning, so we can line up the times.
- Consultation with Dr. Park. Dr. Park looks at redness, active blemishes and recent treatments. She also asks about medicines that raise light sensitivity.
- Preparation & numbing. Your skin is cleansed and makeup removed. No numbing is needed, and you put on eye protection before the panel switches on.
- The treatment. You lie back under the LED panel for about 15–20 minutes. Most people feel nothing, or just a gentle warmth.
- Out the door & follow-up. You can go straight back to your day. Book the next session 1–2 weeks later, or message us if redness lingers.
How Dr. Park plans your LED Therapy treatment
Choosing the wavelength
LED devices emit light at set wavelengths, and each colour is used for a different aim. Dr. Park chooses the setting for your goal: calming after a procedure, supporting repair, or helping blemish-prone skin settle. The light works without heat damage, so the plan is about consistency rather than intensity.
Building it into a course
LED is most useful as a series. Sessions are usually spaced 1–2 weeks apart. At Art of Shine it is often paired with laser toning. The AOS Skin Package, for example, combines Pico Toning 5 sessions and Genesis 5 sessions with Recovery LED & Radiance Mask 10 sessions.
Keeping it gentle
Because LED is low-irritation, it can be used on days when your skin cannot take more. If your skin is very reactive, Dr. Park may place LED right after a laser to help it calm down.
LED Therapy results: what to expect and when
- Right after: skin may look slightly flushed, then calmer within hours.
- After 2–4 sessions: many people notice less redness and a more settled complexion.
- Over 1–2 months: regular sessions support a steadier, healthier-looking skin condition.
- Ongoing: effects vary by person; maintenance sessions keep skin on track.
Side effects, risks and who should avoid LED Therapy
LED therapy is generally very well tolerated. Possible side effects include:
- Mild, short-lived redness or warmth
- Temporary dryness or tightness
- Rarely, eye discomfort if eye protection is not worn
Not suitable if you: are sensitive to light (photosensitivity) or take photosensitising medication; have light-triggered epilepsy or migraines; have an active skin infection in the area; or are pregnant (please tell your doctor first).
LED Therapy vs Omega LED Care, Cryocell and Hydration Care: which should you choose?
All four are gentle, no-downtime skin care options, but they soothe the skin in different ways.
| Treatment | How it works | Best for | Downtime | Results last |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LED Therapy | Set wavelengths of low-energy light | Calming, repair support, blemish-prone skin | None | Varies by individual |
| Omega LED Care | LED light plus soothing, hydrating care | Dry, sensitised skin after procedures | None | Varies by individual |
| Cryocell | Cooling lowers skin temperature | Heat, redness, post-laser comfort | None | Varies by individual |
| Hydration Care | Intensive moisture and nutrients | Tight, rough, dehydrated skin | None | Varies by individual |
Choose LED Therapy if you want a short light session to calm skin or support repair. Choose Omega LED Care if you also need hydration. Choose Cryocell if heat and flushing are the main problem.
Aftercare after LED Therapy

Downtime after LED Therapy, and flying home
There is no recovery period after LED Therapy. Some people look slightly pink for a short time, and this usually fades quickly. You can walk out to Seomyeon’s shops or head to the beach the same afternoon. Skip heavy makeup on the day, apply sunscreen, and moisturise well with a hydrating cream.
Avoid saunas, jjimjilbang and hot baths on the day of care. A drink with dinner is not usually a problem, but alcohol can make flushing worse. Flying is fine, even the same day. Cabin air is dry, so moisturise during the flight. If LED is part of a laser plan, tell Dr. Park your flight date so she can schedule around the laser. Read our aftercare tips for travellers.

Does LED therapy actually work, or is it just relaxing?
LED therapy has a real but modest effect, and it works best as support rather than a stand-alone fix. Specific wavelengths of light are absorbed by skin cells and can help calm inflammation and support repair. That is why it is widely used after lasers and peels. It will not remove pigment, lift skin or fill wrinkles. Results also build slowly, so one session rarely shows a dramatic change. If your goal is calmer, less reactive skin, a course every 1–2 weeks makes sense. If you want a visible change in spots or tone, ask Dr. Park about pairing LED with a toning laser.
Is LED therapy safe for sensitive skin and rosacea-prone skin?
For most sensitive skin, yes. LED uses low-energy light without needles, acids or meaningful heat. This is why it is often chosen for people who sting with ordinary facials. Reactive skin may still flush briefly, so mention any history of rosacea or eczema at consultation. There are a few reasons to be careful. Some medicines and supplements make skin more light-sensitive. Certain conditions are also triggered by light. In those cases Dr. Park may change the plan or suggest another calming option, such as Cryocell. Bring a list of your current medicines to make this check quick.
Can I do LED therapy on the same day as a laser or peel?
Yes, and this is one of the most common ways it is used. LED is gentle enough to follow laser toning, a peel or skin boosters on the same visit. Many patients have it straight after Pico Toning so the skin can settle before they leave. The order matters, so Dr. Park decides the sequence on the day. If your skin is very irritated after a stronger treatment, she may use cooling first. Same-day pairing is useful for travellers who have limited clinic visits. Mention every treatment you plan to book when you message us, so the timing works.

No. LED therapy uses low-energy light, not heat or needles, so most people feel nothing or only a gentle warmth. You wear eye protection and simply rest during the 15–20 minute session. No numbing is needed.
How many LED sessions do I need?
LED works as a course. Sessions every 1–2 weeks are usually recommended, and many people notice calmer skin after a few visits. Your doctor suggests a plan based on your skin and whether you are combining it with other treatments.
