What is Exosome?
Exosomes are tiny vesicles released by cells that carry signalling molecules such as proteins and growth factors. In skin care, exosome ampoules are used to support the skin's natural repair processes, which is why they are often applied straight after treatments that create tiny channels in the skin.
At Art of Shine Clinic, exosomes are offered alongside Potenza microneedle radiofrequency and pico fractional laser. Research on exosomes in aesthetics is still developing, so think of this as a supportive treatment rather than a standalone fix. Your doctor will explain the specific product used.
How Exosome works
The ampoule is delivered into the skin through tiny channels made by microneedling, a fractional laser or fine injections, so it reaches the skin rather than staying on the surface.
- Consultation: your doctor checks your skin and recommends whether to pair exosomes with a laser or microneedling.
- Treatment: after numbing cream, the ampoule is delivered in about 10–20 minutes.
- After: soothing care is applied; mild redness, swelling or needle marks fade within 1–2 days.
Why patients choose Exosome
- Concentrated signalling factors — a dense ampoule to support skin recovery.
- Post-laser soothing — helps calm skin after laser or microneedling.
- Refreshes tired skin — skin condition can look better within days.
- Pairs with other treatments — added to Potenza or pico fractional laser.
Who is Exosome for — and when we suggest something else
Good candidates
- You are having a laser or microneedling treatment and want extra soothing.
- Your skin looks tired, dull or stressed and you want it to recover.
- You have fine lines and texture concerns alongside dryness.
- You can return for 3 or more sessions, 2–4 weeks apart.
- You want a treatment with short downtime that fits a trip.
We may suggest something else if…
- You want a stand-alone injectable course for skin repair. Rejuran Healer is a well-established option.
- Your main concern is acne scarring. Potenza targets scars directly, and exosomes can be added.
- You want volume or fold correction. Exosomes do not fill; a filler suits that goal.
- Your skin is actively inflamed, infected or has a cold sore. Treatment waits until it settles.
- You are sensitive to new products or have allergies. Dr. Park will check before proceeding.
What happens at your Exosome session in Seomyeon
- Message us on WhatsApp first. Send a skin photo in daylight and say which exosome package interests you. Include recent laser treatments and your travel dates.
- Consultation with Dr. Park. She checks your skin barrier, redness and concerns. She confirms which delivery method suits you, such as Potenza or pico fractional laser.
- Preparation & numbing. Your face is cleansed and numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes.
- The treatment. The exosome step takes about 10–20 minutes, plus time for the paired laser or Potenza. You may feel prickling or warmth.
- Out the door & follow-up. Mild swelling, redness or needle marks can last 1–2 days, longer after Potenza. Plan your next session 2–4 weeks later.
How Dr. Park plans your Exosome treatment
Exosomes as a partner treatment
Exosome treatment uses a concentrated ampoule of regenerative signalling factors. At our clinic it is usually paired with a procedure that opens channels in the skin.
Amounts in our packages
The full-face pico fractional laser package uses exosomes 1cc, with cryo care and a soothing mask. The POTENZA pumping package uses exosomes 3cc, with the tip charged separately. Dr. Park chooses the pairing based on whether you need soothing or texture work.
Spacing
Sessions are spaced 2–4 weeks apart, with 3 or more recommended. If Potenza is part of the plan, its own recovery and interval also shape the schedule. Read more about Potenza before you book.
Exosome results: what to expect and when
- Days 1–2: small bumps, redness or needle marks settle.
- Weeks 1–2: skin looks calmer and more refreshed.
- After 2–3 sessions: texture and fine lines improve gradually.
- Ongoing: maintenance sessions help keep results; how long they last varies by person.
Side effects, risks and who should avoid Exosome treatment
Exosome treatment is generally well tolerated when performed by a doctor. Possible side effects include:
- Small bumps, redness or needle marks for 1–3 days
- Swelling, tenderness or bruising at the injection points
- Redness or sensitivity from the delivery method, such as microneedling or laser
- Exosome products vary between manufacturers, and long-term research is still limited
- Rarely, lumps, infection or an allergic reaction
Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have an active skin infection, cold sore or inflamed acne in the area; are allergic to any ingredient; or have a bleeding disorder. Tell your doctor about all medications, especially blood thinners and isotretinoin.
Exosome vs Rejuran Healer and PRP: which should you choose?
All three aim to support skin recovery, but their source and use differ.
| Treatment | How it works | Best for | Downtime | Results last |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Exosome | Regenerative signalling ampoule, often paired with laser | Soothing and recovery after laser | Mild swelling or needle marks for 1–2 days | Varies; 3+ sessions recommended |
| Rejuran Healer | Salmon-derived PN injected as its own course | Damaged skin and texture | Mild swelling or needle marks for 1–2 days | Varies; 3+ sessions recommended |
| PRP | Platelet-rich plasma from your own blood | Using your own growth factors | Mild swelling or needle marks for 1–3 days | Varies; 3+ sessions recommended |
Choose exosomes if you are having laser or Potenza and want faster soothing. Choose Rejuran Healer for an injectable repair course. Choose PRP if you prefer a treatment from your own blood.
Aftercare after Exosome
- For about 3–4 hours after treatment, avoid lying down or rubbing the treated area.
- On the day of treatment, avoid saunas, hot baths, strenuous exercise, and alcohol.
- Do not massage or apply strong pressure to the treated area.
- Temporary swelling, bruising, or soreness may occur and usually subsides over time.
- Results and duration may vary depending on individual condition and lifestyle.

Downtime after Exosome, and flying home
With pico fractional laser, expect mild redness and some needle-like marks for 1–2 days. After Potenza, skin recovery takes about 3–7 days, so plan photos accordingly. For 3–4 hours, avoid lying down or rubbing your face. Ask Dr. Park when makeup is fine, as it depends on the paired treatment.
Sightseeing is usually fine, but wear sunscreen and a hat outdoors. Avoid saunas, the jjimjilbang, hot baths, alcohol and hard exercise on the day. Tell Dr. Park your flight date, especially if Potenza is included. Dry cabin air can make treated skin feel tight, so pack moisturiser. See our aftercare guide for travellers.

Are exosome treatments injected or applied to the skin?
At our clinic, exosomes are delivered through channels made by a paired procedure. Our packages pair them with pico fractional laser or POTENZA pumping. These procedures create tiny channels that help the ampoule reach deeper than surface skincare. This is why the paired treatment drives most of the sensation and downtime. The ampoule itself is not painful. Dr. Park explains the delivery method for your package at consultation. If you want a stand-alone injectable for repair, ask about Rejuran Healer. Bring a list of any treatments you had in the past month.
Why pair exosomes with laser instead of having laser alone?
The aim is to support recovery and soothe the skin after laser stress. Laser and microneedling cause controlled micro-injury, which triggers repair. Exosomes are used to support that recovery phase, so skin may calm sooner. Some people notice less redness or a faster return to comfortable skin. Responses vary, and exosomes do not replace good aftercare or sun protection. Laser alone is still a valid choice for many concerns. Dr. Park can tell you whether adding exosomes is worth it for your skin and trip length.
Are exosomes the same as stem cells?
No. Exosomes are tiny vesicles released by cells, not living cells themselves. They carry signalling molecules that cells use to communicate. Products are usually derived from cell culture, and their content varies by brand. Because exosome ampoules are a newer category, ask what product is used. Dr. Park can show you the product and explain its use. If you are interested in culture-based options, see our Stem Cell Skin Booster. Tell her about allergies or sensitivities before treatment. Like any skin treatment, results and reactions vary from person to person.
Exosome FAQ
How much does exosome treatment cost in Busan?
At Art of Shine Clinic, full-face pico fractional laser with exosomes 1cc, cryo care and a soothing mask is KRW 129,000. Potenza pumping with exosomes 3cc is KRW 289,000, with the tip charged separately (excl. 10% VAT).
Does exosome treatment hurt?
Numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes first. The ampoule itself is not painful; any discomfort comes from the delivery method, such as microneedling or laser. Most people describe prickling or warmth that settles quickly.
How many exosome sessions do I need?
A course of three or more sessions, 2–4 weeks apart, is recommended. Skin often looks calmer within days, and texture improves gradually over the course. How long results last varies with your skin, the paired treatment and your lifestyle.
Can I go sightseeing or fly after exosome treatment?
Most people continue sightseeing, though mild swelling, redness or needle marks may show for 1–2 days. Avoid lying down or rubbing your face for 3–4 hours, wear sunscreen, and skip saunas, alcohol and hard exercise on the day.
What is the difference between exosome treatment and Rejuran Healer?
Exosome treatment uses signalling vesicles to support recovery and is often paired with lasers for soothing. Rejuran Healer is a polynucleotide (PN) skin booster injected as its own course to improve skin quality and texture. Your doctor will suggest one based on your goals.
Who performs exosome treatment at Art of Shine Clinic?
Dr. Park Yoon-soo, Head Director, plans each exosome treatment and its paired laser or Potenza session. She graduated from Kyungpook National University School of Medicine. Read more on our doctors page.
Is the Potenza tip included in the exosome package price?
No. The POTENZA Pumping Treatment + Exosomes 3cc package lists the tip as charged separately. Ask us on WhatsApp for the tip cost before your visit, so you know the full total.
Do I need a consultation before exosome treatment?
Yes, Dr. Park consults with you on the day before treatment. She checks your skin and confirms the right pairing. Message us on WhatsApp first if you have had a recent laser or peel.
