What is Placenta Injection?

Placenta extract is a purified, processed extract of human placenta. It contains amino acids, peptides and other bioactive components. In Korea and Japan, placenta extract preparations have long been used in medicine, and they are also used for skin and anti-ageing care.

At Art of Shine Clinic the placenta injection is offered as wellness care for people who feel their skin and overall condition are declining. Evidence for cosmetic and anti-ageing benefits is limited, so expectations should be modest. Other skin-focused options include the Baekok (Glutathione) Injection and Rejuran Healer.

How Placenta Injection works

Placenta extract is thought to support tissue repair and cell metabolism through its amino acids and growth-related components. The doctor decides the dose and how it is given based on your health.

  1. Consultation: the doctor reviews your health, hormone-related conditions, medications and allergies.
  2. Treatment: the placenta extract is injected, which takes about 10–15 minutes.
  3. After: you rest briefly, then return to your day. Drink plenty of water.

Why patients choose Placenta Injection

  • Placenta extract — contains amino acids and other bioactive components.
  • Anti-ageing condition care — chosen to support skin vitality and wellbeing.
  • Short sessions — about 10–15 minutes.
  • No downtime — easy to fit into a trip to Busan.

Who is Placenta Injection for — and when we suggest something else

Good candidates

  • You want regular anti-ageing condition care alongside your skin routine
  • You feel your overall condition has dipped and want supportive care
  • You are comfortable receiving a human-derived product
  • You can return every 1–2 weeks for a course
  • You have no hormone-sensitive condition or cancer history

We may suggest something else if…

  • You want visible skin texture and glow change — an injected skin booster such as Rejuran Healer acts directly in the skin
  • You want premium whole-body condition care as a drip — ask about the Stem Cell IV
  • You have a hormone-sensitive condition or a cancer history — Dr. Park will discuss this before anything else
  • You donate blood regularly — some countries restrict donors after placenta products, so check first
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding — we wait

How Dr. Park plans your Placenta Injection treatment

Placenta extract contains amino acids and other bioactive components. Dr. Park positions it as supportive condition care, not as a hormone treatment. She is careful about who receives it.

The clinic lists Placenta Injection: 1 Session and Placenta Injection: 10 Sessions. Starting with one session lets you check how you feel and whether you have any local reaction. A course is then usually spaced every 1–2 weeks.

She also aims for honest expectations. Benefits differ from person to person and cannot be promised. If your main concern is skin texture or wrinkles, she may suggest a skin-focused treatment instead.

Placenta Injection results: what to expect and when

  • During treatment: most people feel only the needle.
  • First days: some people report feeling refreshed — this varies by person.
  • After several sessions: regular sessions every 1–2 weeks are typical for ongoing care.
  • Ongoing: effects are temporary and not the same for everyone; no specific result is promised.

Side effects, risks and who should avoid Placenta Injection

Placenta injections are generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include:

  • Pain, redness, bruising or swelling at the injection site
  • Mild fever, rash or itching
  • Rarely, an allergic reaction (tell staff immediately if you have trouble breathing or a widespread rash)

Not suitable if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have had an allergic reaction to placenta products; have a hormone-sensitive condition or cancer history (discuss with the doctor first); or feel unwell or feverish on the day. Because it is a human-derived product, ask the doctor about any implications for blood donation in your country.

Placenta Injection results timeline: when results appear and peak, and how long they last (Varies by person)

Placenta Injection vs Stem Cell IV and Baekok Injection: which should you choose?

These three all sit in the condition-care space but differ in ingredient, time and cost.

Treatment How it works Best for Downtime Results last
Placenta Injection Human placenta extract injection Anti-ageing condition care None Varies by individual
Stem Cell IV Stem cell culture extract given as a drip Premium whole-body condition care None Varies by individual
Baekok (Glutathione) Injection Glutathione IV injection Brighter-looking skin tone None Varies by individual

Choose the placenta injection for quick, regular condition care. Choose the Stem Cell IV if you want a longer premium drip. Choose Baekok if a brighter tone is your main goal. For skin texture, see our Collagen & Skin Boosters.

Aftercare after Placenta Injection

  • Avoid heavy drinking and strenuous exercise on the day of treatment.
  • If you feel dizzy or unwell, rest at the clinic until you feel steady before leaving.
  • If any discomfort persists, contact the clinic on WhatsApp.

Downtime after the Placenta Injection, and flying home

There is no downtime. For 24 hours the injection site may feel sore or look slightly red. Drink water and avoid heavy drinking and hard exercise on the day. Rest before leaving if you feel faint.

You can sightsee, wear makeup and carry on as normal. Wait until the next day for a sauna or jjimjilbang. Flying is generally fine; just tell Dr. Park your flight date. If you plan to donate blood back home, check your country's rules first. See our aftercare tips for travellers.

Can I donate blood after a placenta injection?

It depends on your country. Some blood services restrict donation after human placenta products. This is a precaution because they are human-derived.

Before starting a course, check your national blood service's rules. If you donate regularly, tell Dr. Park at your consultation. She can explain the product and help you decide. If donating blood matters to you, she may suggest another condition-care option. The Cinderella Injection or another nutrient drip does not involve human-derived ingredients. Keep a note of the date and product of each injection, in case your blood service asks.

Does the placenta injection affect hormones?

It is not a hormone replacement treatment. However, because it is a placenta-derived product, Dr. Park is cautious with hormone-sensitive conditions.

If you have a history of breast, uterine or other hormone-sensitive cancer, endometriosis or fibroids, tell her before treatment. She may advise against it or suggest an alternative. For menopause symptoms, she will recommend seeing a doctor about proven treatments rather than relying on placenta injections. Always share your full medical and medication history, including any hormone therapy or contraception.

How many placenta injections before I notice anything?

There is no fixed number, and benefits cannot be promised. Some people say they feel better after a few sessions; others notice little.

That is why the clinic offers a single session before a 10-session course. Many people come every 1–2 weeks. Keep a simple note of your energy, sleep and skin to judge honestly. Sleep, diet and stress affect how you feel far more than any injection. If you see no change after a reasonable course, discuss stopping or switching with Dr. Park. She may suggest a skin booster instead.
