What is Clarity II?

Clarity II, made by Lutronic in Korea, combines two laser wavelengths in one device. The 755 nm alexandrite wavelength is well absorbed by melanin, so it is used for pigment and hair removal; the deeper 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength suits blood vessels, redness and darker skin types. Integrated cooling protects the skin surface during treatment.

Because one device can address several concerns, your doctor can combine toning, spot and redness treatments in a single plan. Related options include Excel V for vascular concerns and laser hair removal.

How Clarity II works

Your doctor selects the wavelength and settings for your concern and skin type. The laser light is absorbed by its target, melanin in pigment or hair follicles, or haemoglobin in blood vessels, and turned into heat that breaks up pigment, closes small vessels or disables follicles. Cooling protects the surface of the skin.

  1. Consultation: your doctor identifies your concern and chooses the wavelength and settings.
  2. Treatment: the laser is applied with cooling, usually in about 10–20 minutes.
  3. After: soothing care and sunscreen; repeat every 2–4 weeks as planned.

What happens at your Clarity II session in Seomyeon

  1. Message us on WhatsApp first. Tell us your main concern (pigment, redness or hair) and send daylight photos. Mention how long you are in Busan.
  2. Consultation with Dr. Park. Dr. Park identifies which concerns Clarity II should treat and in what order. She checks for tanning and irritation.
  3. Preparation & numbing. Your skin is cleansed. Numbing is usually not needed, but numbing cream can be used if you are sensitive.
  4. The treatment. The laser treats the planned areas in about 10–20 minutes. Cooling softens the quick, rubber-band-like snaps.

How Dr. Park plans your Clarity II treatment

Two wavelengths, several targets

Clarity II uses two laser wavelengths. Dr. Park chooses which to use, and at what settings, for each concern. Pigment, redness and hair each absorb light differently, so the plan is set target by target.

Packages built around Clarity

Clarity Omakase lets you choose 3 from toning, Genesis, vascular/redness treatment or spot treatment. The One-Day Spot-Clearing Laser combines Clarity Laser, Laser Toning and CO2 for up to 15 spots.

Course and spacing

Pigment and redness usually need sessions every 2–4 weeks. Hair removal follows the hair growth cycle. Settings are kept conservative at first, then adjusted.

Clarity II results: what to expect and when

  • Right after: mild redness or warmth; treated spots may look darker briefly.
  • Days 3–10: darkened pigment flakes away gradually.
  • After 3–5 sessions: tone, redness or hair growth usually look visibly improved.
  • Ongoing: results vary by person and concern; maintenance may be advised.

Side effects, risks and who should avoid Clarity II

Clarity II is widely used, but any laser can cause temporary reactions. Possible side effects include:

  • Redness, warmth or mild swelling for a few hours to days
  • Temporary darkening of treated spots before they flake
  • Rarely, blistering, lighter or darker patches, or bruising after vascular settings

Not suitable if you: are pregnant; have an active skin infection, cold sore or open wound in the area; are sunburnt or recently tanned; have used isotretinoin recently; take photosensitising medication; or have a history of keloid scarring. Tell your doctor about any blood thinners or skin conditions.

Clarity II vs Excel V, Pico Toning and Laser Hair Removal: which should you choose?

Clarity II covers several concerns; the alternatives each focus on one.

Clarity II Dual-wavelength laser with cooling Pigment, redness and hair together None Varies by individual
Excel V Laser specialised for vascular lesions Redness, visible vessels, red marks None Varies by individual
Pico Toning Picosecond pulses break pigment Melasma, blemishes None Varies by individual
Laser Hair Removal (Female) Medical laser suppresses follicles Underarms, arms, legs, face None Gradual reduction over 5+ sessions

Downtime after Clarity II, and flying home

Redness or warmth may appear right after treatment and usually settles within a few days. Spot treatments can darken for a short time before they fade. Do not scratch or rub the area. Keep your skin moisturised and wear sunscreen thoroughly for 1–2 weeks.

On the day, avoid saunas, jjimjilbang, hot baths, hard exercise and alcohol. Heat can bring redness back. Light makeup is usually fine from the next day. Flying is generally fine soon after. If spot removal with CO2 was part of your package, follow that scab care too. Tell Dr. Park your flight date so she can plan the package to fit. Read our aftercare tips for travellers.

Can Clarity II treat pigment and redness in the same session?

Often yes. That flexibility is the main reason to choose Clarity II. Because it has two wavelengths, Dr. Park can address different targets in one visit. Clarity Omakase is designed for this: you choose 3 treatments, such as toning and vascular/redness treatment. Combining is not always the best idea, though. Very sensitive skin may do better with concerns treated over separate visits. Dr. Park decides at consultation. Tell her which concern bothers you most, so she can prioritise it.

Is Clarity II good for laser hair removal on the face?

It can be used for hair removal, which is one of its listed uses. Hair removal needs repeated sessions because hair grows in cycles. Facial hair can respond differently from body hair, and fine, light hair responds less well to lasers in general. If hair removal is your main goal, see Laser Hair Removal (Female) for course details. Dr. Park will look at your hair colour, thickness and skin tone first. She will then tell you honestly what to expect.

Why are the snaps less painful with Clarity II?

Because the device cools the skin as the laser fires. Cooling protects the surface and reduces the sharp, hot feeling of each pulse. Most people describe it as a quick rubber-band snap. Comfort still varies by area and concern. Hair removal and spot treatment can feel stronger than gentle toning. If you are sensitive, numbing cream can be applied first. Ask for it when you book, because it needs extra time before treatment. Tell the staff during the session if any area feels too strong.

Clarity II FAQ

How much does Clarity II cost in Busan?

At Art of Shine Clinic in Seomyeon, the One-Day Spot-Clearing Laser package (Clarity, toning and CO2 for up to 15 spots) is KRW 290,000, and Clarity Omakase (choose 3 treatments) is KRW 390,000 (excl. 10% VAT).

Does Clarity II hurt?

Most people feel quick snaps like a rubber band, softened by the built-in cooling. Numbing is usually not needed, but numbing cream can be applied if you are sensitive. A session takes about 10–20 minutes.

How many Clarity II sessions do I need?

It depends on the concern. Pigment and redness usually need several sessions every 2–4 weeks, and hair removal needs repeated sessions to cover growth cycles. Your doctor gives you a plan after your consultation.

Can I sightsee or fly after Clarity II?

Yes. There is no downtime, so you can continue sightseeing and fly as planned. Use sunscreen for 1–2 weeks and avoid saunas, hot baths, hard exercise and alcohol on the day of treatment.

Clarity II vs Excel V: which is better for redness?

Both can treat vascular concerns. Excel V is a laser focused mainly on redness and visible vessels. Clarity II is more versatile, covering pigment, redness and hair removal. Your doctor recommends one based on your main concern.

Who plans my Clarity II treatment?

Dr. Park Yoon-soo, Head Director of Art of Shine Clinic, reviews your concerns and chooses the settings. Ask on WhatsApp if you want to discuss your case before booking.

What can I choose in Clarity Omakase?

You choose 3 from toning, Genesis, vascular/redness treatment or spot treatment. You do not need to decide in advance. Dr. Park can help you pick the three that best fit your skin at consultation.

Do foreign patients pay the same listed price?

Listed prices are in KRW, exclude 10% VAT and are paid at the clinic on the day. Event prices change, so confirm your price on WhatsApp when you book.
