Skin Booster Injections in Korea: Complete Foreigner's Guide
Skin boosters are one of the main reasons international visitors book a clinic appointment in Korea. The range is wide, the names can be confusing, and it is not always clear what you can achieve in a single trip. This guide explains the main types of skin booster, how to choose between them, what they cost in Busan, what happens at the appointment and how to plan around flights, all from the point of view of someone visiting from abroad.
Quick answer: A skin booster is a series of tiny injections that place ingredients such as hyaluronic acid (HA), PN (polynucleotide) or PDLLA into the skin to improve hydration, texture, elasticity and glow. Unlike filler, it does not change face shape. A session usually takes 10–30 minutes after 20–30 minutes of numbing cream, with small bumps or needle marks for 1–3 days, and most boosters work best as a course of three or more sessions a few weeks apart. In Seomyeon, Busan, booster packages start from KRW 319,000 before 10% VAT.
What is a skin booster?
Think of a skin booster as treatment for skin quality rather than shape. Instead of a larger amount of gel placed in one spot, as with filler, small amounts of product are spread evenly across the face, either by hand with a fine needle or with an injector device. The aim is skin that looks better hydrated, smoother and healthier.
The main types of skin booster
Hydrating boosters (hyaluronic acid)
Water Glow Injection, Re2O and Belotero Revive place soft hyaluronic acid in the skin. HA holds water, so these suit dry, tight or dull skin and fine dehydration lines. Belotero Revive also contains glycerol.
Repair boosters (PN)
Rejuran Healer contains PN derived from salmon DNA and is used for tired, damaged or thin skin, texture and fine lines. Rejuran HB combines PN with HA for repair and hydration together.
Collagen stimulators
Juvelook Skin (PDLLA with HA) works gradually on texture, pores and fine lines. Juvelook Volume, Olidia (PLLA) and Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite) sit closer to fillers and are used where some gradual volume or firmness is wanted.
Other options
CellREDM (an extracellular matrix booster) targets firmness and texture. Retigen and the Snow White Injection focus on dull, uneven tone. Exosome ampoules, PRP from your own blood and stem cell culture extract boosters are used for recovery and glow, but their evidence is more limited than for HA or PN boosters, so expectations should be modest.
Which booster suits which concern?
- Dry, dull, dehydrated skin: Water Glow Injection, Re2O or Belotero Revive.
- Damaged, sensitised or tired skin: Rejuran Healer or Rejuran HB.
- Texture, pores and fine lines: Juvelook Skin or CellREDM.
- Mild hollows and loss of firmness: Juvelook Volume, Olidia or Radiesse.
- Dull tone: Snow White Injection or Retigen; for actual pigment, laser toning is usually more effective.
Many Korean clinics combine two or three boosters, or pair a booster with a lifting device, because each works on a different part of skin quality.

What happens on the day
- Message first. Send a daylight photo, your main concern and your dates in Busan. Messages in English are fine.
- Consultation. The doctor checks hydration, texture, skin thickness and goals, and reviews medications, allergies and recent treatments.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied for about 20–30 minutes.
- Injections. Most boosters take about 10–20 minutes; some take up to 30. You feel light pricking or pressure.
- Soothing and payment. A calming mask or care may follow, and you pay at the clinic before leaving.
Results and how many sessions
Hydrating boosters often make skin feel more hydrated within a few days. Repair and collagen-stimulating boosters work more slowly, with changes over weeks. For most boosters, a course of three or more sessions 2–4 weeks apart gives steadier results than a single session, followed by periodic maintenance. How long results last varies with age, skin condition and lifestyle.
If you only visit Korea once, a single session is still possible, but expect a smaller, temporary improvement. Some visitors continue the course with a doctor at home, or plan trips to line up with the recommended intervals.
Side effects and aftercare
Skin boosters are generally well tolerated when performed by a doctor. Common effects are small bumps, needle marks, redness or mild swelling for 1–2 days (sometimes 3), and occasional bruising that can take up to a week to fade. Rarely, infection, an allergic reaction or persistent lumps can occur.
Aftercare tips
- Avoid lying face-down, rubbing or massaging the face for 3–4 hours.
- On the day, skip saunas and jjimjilbang, hot baths, hard exercise and alcohol.
- Light make-up is usually fine from the next day.
- Use sunscreen and keep skin moisturised, especially on the plane.
Who should wait
Boosters are usually postponed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over an active infection, cold sore or acne flare, and with a known allergy to an ingredient. Tell the doctor about blood thinners, supplements, bleeding disorders and any recent laser or filler.
Planning boosters around your trip
- Timing: most people sightsee the same day, but plan photos a day or two later.
- Flights: flying is generally fine; tell the doctor your flight date at the consultation.
- Combining: if you add a laser with longer recovery, book early in your stay.
- Getting there: the clinic is on the 8th floor of the Burger King building at 48 Seomyeon-ro, about 3 minutes from Seomyeon Station Exit 7. It opens Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday 10:00–16:00 KST, with lunch 13:00–14:00, and is closed on Sundays.
Skin booster vs filler
- Skin booster : small amounts spread across the skin. Best for: hydration, texture, glow and elasticity.
- Collagen stimulator : builds your own collagen over weeks. Best for: gradual firmness or soft volume.
- Filler : gel placed in a specific area. Best for: immediate volume and shape.
